How to capture STB IR codes

In order to capture STB codes for TiVo you need to own a Pronto (or similar Marantz remote) that allows you to learn the remote codes from the Set Top Box, and then export the learned codes as a CCF file.

Only the numeric digits zero to nine are needed - the enter, select, or power codes are not used / needed. It is recommended that each digit is captured twice in case one capture has an error. I have created a CCF file which can be downloaded and used by your Pronto when capturing STB codes. This contains a single panel which has two keypads (so each digit can be learned twice), and also space to enter the manufacturer and model number of the STB. The CCF file can be downloaded here (ZIP file 2KB).

Once you have captured the STB codes, simply send the CCF file to me and I'll get the data to TiVo:

PalmOS Omniremote V2.x users: I am told that you can obtain Pronto format codes by using the "Export to memo pad" option after capturing a remote. Version 1.x does not have this feature.

If you can supply Pronto codes and are willing to help others by meeting up with them to capture their STB codes (even if the area you are in is already listed as covered) then please contact me:
