This is reasonably common after you have been regularly using your TiVo remote for over a year. You can try cleaning the inside of the remote to see if it helps. To open your remote remove the batteries, and unscrew the screw inside the battery cover. Carefully prise the top and bottom parts of the remote apart. They are attached together quite tight, but you can use a flat blade screwdriver as a lever to carefully split them. Once opened use a dry lint free cloth to clean the contacts under the buttons. The inside of the remote looks like this:

Examine the black contact pads on the underneath of the rubber membrane. If the black contact pads for the keys you are having the most problem with look shiny, then try cleaning these. A couple of strokes with an emery paper should remove the shininess and restore them to a (more reliable) matt appearance.
